It feels like just yesterday I was letting everybody in on the ol’ Music City Joke, and y’all helped me get it out in the world with a generous bang! Music City Joke felt like the album I’d wanted to make ever since I started wanting to make albums. The entire experience–from the studio to fundraising to the release and the radio charts and the touring–it all felt like a long-legged step in the right direction and I’m here to let y’all know I’m ready to do it again!  

I headed into the studio in February with a handful of half songs and hooks and Brad Jones behind the board again. We recorded for a week or so, kept a few and pitched a few. I picked up a brand new pack of legal pads and got back to the business of writing songs. I added a few more keepers in April, and showed up in August armed with Shake a Leg and the title track, Motel Breakfast. Those two songs really tied everything together and we knew we had something good. 

Motel Breakfast is a honky tonk rock and roll record with a whole lot of Saturday night and a little Sunday morning thrown in for good measure. I can’t wait for you to hear it. I put all I had into making an album I hope you’ll enjoy and want to listen to over and over! 

Last time I asked for your help, you knocked it out of the park, and I know we can do it again! None of this happens without y’all, and I’m immensely grateful for your support. 

With the benefit of hindsight, we’re doing a few things differently this time around: 
1. Hosting it on my website means no Kickstarter fees; every dollar donated goes directly to the project! 
2. Offering new rewards: Vinyl! T-shirts! Virtual House Show! 
3. Setting a higher goal to include some things I didn’t factor in for Music City Joke that’ll really help get the music out into even more hands & ears, including: 

• Vinyl – In 2022, vinyl records surpassed CD sales for the first time since 1987. If you want to move physical products, you have to have vinyl which costs just shy of an arm and a leg.  
• Postage – I shipped albums to radio stations and publications all over the world and international shipping costs a pretty penny. When it was all said and done, I spent close to two grand on postage alone! 
• Project Management – The business of Mac mostly runs like a well-oiled machine, and I promise y’all I am not the reason for it running like said well-oiled machine.
• Digital Marketing – We live in a digital world and I’m the technological equivalent of a rotary phone beside a typewriter on a knotty pine desk, so I could use some help navigating the digital waters I’m currently treading in.
• Tour Support – I got spins all over the place last time around, and if a radio station in some town or city is giving me significant spins, it makes practical sense for me to go and play a show in that town. A little scratch for gas (maybe even a plane ticket) would go a long way.

All of this plus the stuff we did account for last time, like producer's fee, publicity, radio promo, physical CDs, graphic design, press kits, video production–it adds up fast! $30,000 seems like a lot. It IS a lot.  Thanks to your support, we’re higher on the ladder, with more people listening to the music, so there’s even more people to help reach the goal!
